CMS - Publishing Task 3
CMS Publishing Task 3
Migration:
To migrate my website and get it online, I first started with logging into my "iFastNet". After installing Wordpress and linking it to my Database, I installed the "All in one migration" plugin to import the wordpress file.
Just before importing the site, I used the same plugin, to export the locally hosted website. I personally perfer to use a plugin for this migration process as it makes the whole process quite seamless and you dont have to worry about forgetting certain files. In the end I ended up using iFastNet as they allow you to pay for a new domain name through their portal. There C panel is also quite useful as it has all the applications you would need, eg wordpress installation, file manager, mySql etc.
Theme:
I ended up using the "Blocksy" theme, I really liked the theme as its specifically made for a e-commerce theme. Within the theme it supports plugins such as "WooCommerce" Unfortunately however, when I tried to go and add code snippets it crashed the whole site as the trial version I was using doesn't support custom code snippets. To resolve this I had to pay the €60 for the theme which then unlocked the code snippet extension.
Plugins:
All in one WP Security:

This plugin also allows for a fully functional cart and payment processing of said products also.
Block Slider:
This plugin is used on my home page as a "Interactive Gallery". It contains four different products with a photo and a short description. It also has a "Buy Now" button which when clicked, will re-direct the user to the products dedicated page. The images would scroll them selves on a few seconds interval. There is also four buttons below the displayed image with the current "Slide" highlighted in a different color.
Akismet Anti-Spam:
This plugin as it suggests is to prevent spam, Simmular to the WP Security plugin, but this plugin is more tailored to comments and user spam messages, as apposed to bot and brute force attacks.
